Welcome back Tom!
May 2021
Great to see Tom back on the farm, helping out. Tom volunteered at Appleseed several years ago before heading off to university. He's back in the area now and giving us some very welcome support while the grass and weeds are growing fast!

Good to Grow!
April 2021
Nothing beats seeing the site coming to life. The frosts are still a danger at night for our tender young plants even in the polytunnels, but the days are getting longer..
Springing into action!
April 2021
Finally, with a period of prolonged dry weather, we've been able to start repairing the Winter flood damage on site. The lodge is being dried out and as well as the floor, the roof needs some repairs too.
Thank you for your patience while we've been getting the site in order - and massive thanks as ever to our team of volunteers who keep going - whatever the weather!
Water, Water, Everywhere!
January 2021
After some incredibly dry times last year it was unfortunate that some parts of the smallholding spent Christmas underwater!!
Unprecedented river levels meant flooding on site in the polytunnels and in the lodge. The workshop and the chicken runs escaped unscathed - to the relief of the chickens who thought their coops were going to become makeshift arks.
There's going to be some work involved in sorting out the resulting chaos, so bear with us....
School Visit Days
2021
For a fun, educational day with a difference we host school days at our 17 acre smallholding in Wymondham.
Activities are tailored to your requirements, and might feaure some growing veg, feeding chickens, woodwork, treasure hunts and more. Seasonal visits help children see how nature works during the course of the year, so they can connect with the land and the food that is grown there.
Costs are normally around £3 per pupil per day, based on a class of 30 pupils attending.
Growing our Community project launches
2020
Growing our Community is a project designed to alleviate mental health and wellbeing issues in our local communities.
Appleseed will run sessions for the rest of the year providing participants with the opportunity to learn horticultural skills and take part in meaningful activities to help improve mental and physical health and wellbeing.
Sessions will take place at our care farm in Wymondham, and will be open to adult residents in Norfolk.
** Jan 2021 update: project completed **
Quick Covid Update
2020
Thank you for your enquiries about Appleseed status during the Covid pandemic.
We are able to operate safely outdoors and are continuing to run sessions during this time. We are adapting to ensure everyone remains safe and adheres to social distancing guidelines. This means for example fewer people on site at any one time; shorter sessions; people bringing their own food and drink onto site; staying outside; wearing appropriate equipment; cleaning tools; etc.
Please do get in touch with any queries or questions.
Thank you!

Demand Increasing for Placements
2018
We're delighted that demand is ever-increasing for placements with Appleseed in Norfolk and Suffolk. The downside is that we can't accommodate everyone all the time, and some funded programmes may have restrictions on who is eligible to attend.
We know it's frustrating when that happens, but remember that we also accommodate privately funded placements. You can use your Personal Budget to pay to attend Appleseed at our Wymondham smallholding, which costs around £50 per person per day.
Talk to your financial support worker for more advice, or ask them to give us a call.

Holiday YAB Sessions!
2018
Fantastic to see lots of familiar faces during our YAB sessions. It's nice that many of the attendees choose to come back time and time again for another day at Appleseed.
Lots of activities for everyone from gardening and growing, to making bird boxes, insect houses, rustic furniture and painting.
** Update: YAB sessions are now completed **

Appleseed Entered for National Award
Rebuilding lives, empowering individuals and broadening horizons, are all benefits of the Appleseed programme in East Anglia created for people with mental health issues.
The 12-week programme, run by Appleseed, a social enterprise created to give people access to working outdoors and with animals, helps with mental health and wellbeing, building resilience, and reducing stress, anxiety and depression.
This project builds on the success of care farms, which help people to recover and find employment, build social inclusion and play an active role in society.
Orbit funded the programme through its community investment health and wellbeing offer, to enable customers to develop soft skills and increase confidence and improve mental health and wellbeing.
20 customers engaged within the project – 100% reported improved mental health and wellbeing. The total social value achieved through the project was £285,310, £14,265 per client, against the overall cost of the project of just over £16,000.
